CHIEF DEPUTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
Brent left the Arkansas Attorney General's Office in 1997 to become Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Saline, Grant, and Hot Spring Counties under newly elected Prosecuting Attorney Barbara Webb. Brent prosecuted cases in all courts within the district including District and Circuit Courts and tried many cases to juries. Brent prosecuted serious criminal cases in which substantial sentences were meted out by juries following convictions including several cases where the offenders were sentenced to terms of life imprisonment.
In addition to trying cases Brent worked closely with law enforcement officers throughout the district including training them in seminars and Brent also worked with victims of violent crime. He developed several forms for use by law enforcement agencies and the courts and those forms are still in use some twenty years later. Brent was certified as a law enforcement instructor in 1992 by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.
The judicial district was divided by legislation and Saline County became its own judicial district in 1999. Brent continued as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the new district until the end of 2001 when he was appointed to the position of District Court Judge by Governor Mike Huckabee. For his service as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Brent received a certificate of recognition from the Saline County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
SPECIAL PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
In addition to serving as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Brent also served as a Special Prosecuting Attorney in various cases around the State of Arkansas where the local prosecutors had a conflict of interest. These cases included high profile cases and homicide cases. Brent received these appointments while working at the Arkansas Attorney General's Office and at the Saline County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEY, BRYANT
In 2005, Brent worked on a contractual basis with Saline County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Herzfeld's Office to serve as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Bryant prosecuting criminal, traffic, and code enforcement cases within the Bryant District Court.
SPECIAL COUNSEL TO AJDDC
In 2017 Brent was appointed by the Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission, the Commission which has the authority to regulate conduct of judges, to serve as Special Counsel in a case where a judicial complaint had been lodged against the Justices of the Supreme Court of Arkansas.
